WoW Forever Leveling from 20 to 30

What opens after the Beta cap rises to 30: quest areas, new dungeon ranges, dungeon quest XP changes and practical leveling checks without invented XP/hour routes.

Quick answer

The October 1 Beta update lets you level to 30. Continue level-appropriate quest chains, then consider Razorfen Downs (25+), Excavation Site: Wetlands (26–31) and Uldaman at 30+. Dungeon quests now give less bonus XP, so old turn-in plans need checking. This is a choice guide, not a verified fastest 20–30 route.

Before leaving level 20

Update the client, confirm your character can earn XP again and inspect your quest log and available rewards. Blizzard reports the cap change as shipped; this site has not timed a complete route on every faction or class. The patch's dungeon level labels do not independently establish minimum entry restrictions.

Which quest areas should you check?

The update increases creature/object respawns in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles; Redridge and Stonetalon were adjusted earlier. These are useful areas to inspect for level-appropriate chains, not a claim that every zone is newly opened or equally suitable for both factions. Use the actual quest difficulty and your established travel access.

20–24: finish suitable chains

Editorial approach: prioritize unfinished chains at an appropriate difficulty and minimize unnecessary travel. Keep any genuinely available dungeon quests for a group you can complete, but check their current reward first. There is no measured optimal XP/hour or guaranteed faction-neutral itinerary here.

25–29: new dungeon choices

Blizzard lists Razorfen Downs at 25+ and Excavation Site: Wetlands at 26–31, alongside the earlier dungeon pool. Choose a group based on available quests, encounter readiness and loot goals rather than assuming repeated clears give first-run quest XP again.

At 30: Uldaman and the cap

Uldaman is officially listed at 30+. The player cap remains 30, even though the Excavation listing extends to 31. The reviewed notes do not announce leveling beyond 30 or a next cap-increase date.

Did all quest XP get cut in half?

No. October 1 halves the extra dungeon-quest XP above ordinary quest values, not all quest rewards and not dungeon kill XP. Check each updated turn-in instead of extrapolating from a pre-update screenshot.

Quest markers or mobs missing?

Questie supports the client, but new Forever quest coverage is incomplete or not established. Read the in-game quest text before assuming a missing marker means no content. Report a blocked objective with quest name and build; do not invent a bypass or abandon a chain solely because an addon is blank.

What remains unknown

A complete verified 20–30 route, optimal XP/hour, every prerequisite and the timing of a higher cap are not established here. Group efficiency and player preferences can differ; Beta progression is not a final leveling-speed ranking.

When an object or Legacy unlock blocks your next step

At level 25, check the official Legacy point milestone rather than assuming every inaccessible menu needs more leveling. Preserve blocked item-started quests; the world-object guide covers already-used/no-loot reports and mixed attempts. Choose another available activity instead of abandoning a unique chain as a guaranteed reset.

October 8 dungeon update

City of Dalaran is now available for testing. Dungeon kill XP increases approximately 20%, separate from October 1's extra quest-bonus reduction. For Wetlands relic follow-ups, the named item-return fix supersedes earlier no-fix wording. Check the dedicated guides; no complete new dungeon route or fastest leveling rate is claimed.
