Why the spell may not be available yet
Its announced unlock is level 40. The reviewed Beta cap of 30 cannot by itself provide access to that spell; do not treat a missing training option below its unlock as a confirmed bug. Check your actual character level and the current class trainer before importing another expansion's spell information.
Fire and Frost interactions
The deep dive describes support from many talents affecting either school, not every talent without exception. Improved Fireball also shortens its cast; Ignite and Ice Shards are presented as one hybrid illustration. The example is not a measured raid DPS ranking, a guaranteed proc chain or a finished level-60 loadout.
A practical comparison once accessible
Record build, talent ranks, spell rank, Fire/Frost bonuses and target conditions. Change one talent or item at a time and distinguish initial damage, later ticks and critical hits. Test control effects separately from damage so a slow does not become a fictional damage multiplier. Keep observations labeled as tests rather than an official complete formula.
What not to infer from the preview
Do not publish a best-in-slot list or final hybrid rotation from the design example. Level restrictions, later tuning, encounter resistance and available gear matter. October 8 adjusts other Mage spell ranks; it does not establish that this level-40 spell is available to every current tester. Use Cooldown Manager help for a tracker problem, not an invented Frostfire unlock workaround.
