WoW Forever Dungeon XP & Leveling Explained
How WoW Forever Beta dungeon mob and quest XP affect first runs, repeat clears, tank and healer leveling, and dungeon spamming, with evidence levels.
Quick answer
October 8 raises dungeon creature-kill XP by approximately 20% and repairs the higher-level-party penalty for lower-level kills. These are separate from October 1's 50% reduction to the extra dungeon-quest bonus, not ordinary quest XP. Compare kill XP and turn-ins separately; no verified best XP/hour route is established.

How dungeon XP works now
Keep three columns in your comparison: creature kills, ordinary quest rewards and the extra dungeon-quest bonus. October 8 changes kill XP and party calculation; October 1 halves only the extra quest component. Combining them into a claim that all dungeon XP was halved or universally doubled is incorrect.
Mob XP
October 8 officially increases dungeon creature-kill XP by approximately 20%. It also restores individual-level calculation when a party kills lower-level creatures. Blizzard retains the no-XP rule when a party member is vastly above the creature's level; no universal boosting threshold is supplied here.
Dungeon quest XP
Blizzard says the extra reward beyond normal quest values is reduced by 50%. If the old reward was an ordinary component plus a bonus, the new rule halves the bonus only. This explains the wording without inventing either component's numeric value. Recheck the current quest reward before planning turn-ins.
First run versus repeat clears
Plan the first run around the quests you can actually complete, then compare a repeat run's mob XP and loot value. The current reports do not support a daily first-run XP reset mechanic.
Can you level by dungeon spamming?
Repeat clears now benefit from the published creature-XP increase, but do not repeat already completed quest turn-ins. Measure the same group, levels and route after updating. Do not carry early low-kill-XP screenshots forward as current results or claim a fastest route without comparable measurements.
Tanks, healers and repeat groups
Older tank/healer concerns describe the pre-October-8 incentive balance. The kill-XP update changes repeat-run rewards, so those experiences need retesting. Neither the earlier opinions nor the patch proves a numerical role shortage or guaranteed leveling advantage.
Boosting implications
Some players think concentrating XP in one-time quests could move boosting incentives rather than remove them. This is a forecast, not an observed live-game economy or an official Blizzard conclusion.
What Blizzard has confirmed
October 1 reduces the extra dungeon-quest bonus; October 8 increases creature XP and fixes party penalties. These are different reward streams. There is still no announced daily first-run reset or full official XP equation.
What players are reporting
Earlier reports describe low mob XP and large one-time turn-ins; renewed discussion disputes the reduction and repeat-run incentives. Those opinions are not a new XP formula. Record your build, level, group and quest reward when comparing the updated behavior.
What remains unknown
Actual gains still depend on creature/character levels, party composition, unfinished quests and completion time. No measured universal XP/hour, exact per-quest component table or daily first-clear mechanic is established here.
Why the 50% change is not one fixed total-XP percentage
Blizzard cut the extra dungeon-quest XP above normal quest values by half. Total reduction therefore depends on how much of each quest's previous reward was extra; ordinary quest XP and dungeon mob XP are separate. An October 2 player spreadsheet measures only some quests in Wailing Caverns, Shadowfang Keep and Razorfen Kraul and proposes a dungeon-dependent model. Those samples can guide a comparison, but the formula, rounding and unmeasured quests are not official or fully validated.
Compare your first run with a repeat clear
Before entering, list the faction-specific quests you can actually accept and note your level. Record the XP shown by each quest at turn-in, separate from kill XP during the run. A later clear without those unfinished quests cannot repeat the turn-ins. Higher-level characters may receive different quest XP, so compare at similar levels and builds rather than extrapolating a single screenshot to every dungeon.
Community discussion: why tanks and healers feel the change differently
October 3–5 discussion distinguishes players who enjoy repeat dungeons in their tank/healer role from those who prioritize quest XP. Some healers worry about less leveling incentive to help repeat runs; some tanks welcome more time for practice, friends and drops. Replies include both comfortable and difficult Priest solo experiences. These are preferences and reports—not measured XP multipliers, a proven population shortage or a requirement to respec. Keep ordinary quest XP, the reduced extra bonus and mob kills separate when comparing your own runs.
October 8 comparison: individual level, not the highest member alone
Record each member's level and the creature level, then compare repeat kill XP separately from a first run's quest turn-ins. Keep the client, group and route constant. The intended no-XP case for a vastly higher-level member remains; the announcement is not permission to assume every mixed-level group earns full rewards.
