WoW Forever Addons: What Works Right Now

Quick answer

Start with an addon file whose publisher explicitly lists the Forever flavor or client 1.60.1. CurseForge now supports the Forever Beta flavor, and several maintainers publish direct builds. A published file shows active support; it does not prove every feature works in every Beta build. Check the built-in UI before installing an addon for the same job.

Working and native Forever addons

For UI, ClassicUI Forever and BetterBlizzFrames publish Forever files. For quests and map discovery, HandyNotes: WoW Forever and Tweaks Forever publish native builds. Baganator covers bags; Auctionator covers auctions; AtlasLoot covers dungeon loot. ForeverAuras and NeedToKnow Forever target auras, while Forever Voiceover and VoiceOver Forever offer separate voice approaches. These are publisher-supported files, not a ranked Top 10 or a guarantee of complete Beta compatibility.

Must-have picks by need

There is no universal must-have addon. Pick one problem: UI (ClassicUI), map or quests (HandyNotes or Tweaks), bags (Baganator), auction listings (Auctionator), loot lookup (AtlasLoot), auras (ForeverAuras or NeedToKnow), or spoken quests (one voice project plus its required data pack). For leveling, first check the built-in quest tools and the publisher's Forever notes.

Addon managers

The CurseForge app's September 22 release added explicit WoW Forever Beta flavor support. Some players also report using WowUp with a manually selected Forever installation, but that workflow is community-tested rather than an official compatibility promise. In either manager, verify the target client and the file's Forever flavor before updating.

Built-in versus addon

Blizzard's built-in Cooldown Manager is enabled under Gameplay Enhancement. October 1 adds Rogue and racial abilities and addresses duplicate spell-rank entries, while other individual trackers can remain incomplete. It is separate from third-party addons and does not establish that every addon use case is covered. See its guide for current support and last-listed limitations.

Install and compatibility

Choose the publisher's Forever or 1.60.1 file, install into the Forever Beta client's Interface/AddOns folder, and enable it at character select. A Retail or Classic file does not become Forever-compatible just because its name is familiar. Protected actions and API differences can leave a module incomplete even when it loads.

SavedVariables and settings

Older Beta reports showed profiles or positions written to disk but not restored. A maintainer reported normal SavedVariables loading on build 70009 after the September 24 update, while other setups may still need checking. Test /reload and a full restart with a small profile first; back up your files before trying a workaround. Blizzard has not published a blanket all-addons fix.

Questie: compatible client does not mean complete quests

The publisher's September 30 release v12.0.3+v1.0.4 explicitly includes Forever support and fixes a Forever Journey error. The release announcement said new Forever content was not yet included at launch; the latest reviewed change log does not establish complete new-quest coverage. Use the Questie setup guide before relying on absent markers as proof that no quest exists.
