WoW Forever Warrior Rage Generation Explained
What Blizzard actually changed for WoW Forever Warrior, what Beta players report about normalized rage and crits, and what remains unverified.
Quick answer
Outgoing Rage remains officially normalized around weapon speed; the later Warrior supplement announced 100% extra crit Rage. October 8 fixes several incoming-damage calculations, including absorption handling. Keep dealing damage, taking damage, announced fixes and your own current-build measurements separate; no complete universal formula is supplied.
OfficialView evidence
Current status, version and historical scope
October 8 explicitly says the incoming-damage Rage calculation bugs are fixed in that build. This is stronger than an old next-build promise, but narrower than all Rage complaints resolved. Preserve the normalization explanation: compare damage taken, basic attacks, crit bonuses and client-specific reports separately rather than deleting the mechanic guide after a fix.
What changed
Normalization is now an official design statement, not just a player inference. Higher damage numbers alone do not describe outgoing Rage gain; Blizzard identifies weapon speed as its basis.
What Blizzard officially changed
The normalization explanation remains valid. October 1 also changes enemy tapping with Rend/Sunder Armor, Heroic Strike queue behavior and talent progression. The later Warrior supplement supersedes the initial 75% crit line and corrects Dual Wield Specialization; the dedicated October 1 changes guide tracks those talents without duplicating this mechanism guide.
Current rage generation behavior
Separate Blizzard's stated design from measurements on your client. Record build, level, weapon speed, hit or crit, damage taken and talents before comparing swings. The announcement alone does not verify every live ability or bug fix.
Critical hits and rage
Timeline: the launch Beta lacked the expected crit bonus; the Priest/Warrior deep dive announced 75% extra Rage. The October 1 patch notes were subsequently amended by an October 2 UTC official supplement to 100% extra. That means twice the corresponding non-crit Rage in the stated rule, not 100 extra Rage points. This is an official shipped-change statement, not our independent client measurement. Druid Bear Form's separately listed 75% is not the Warrior rule.
Weapon speed and gear scaling
Blizzard bases normalized outgoing Rage on weapon speed. It has not supplied a complete equation covering every modifier here. Do not turn forum rage-per-second calculations or endgame gear forecasts into official formulas.
Arms impact
Arms players report waiting longer between abilities during early leveling. Blizzard's Bloodthrill and Slam adjustments are official, while claims that a specific future rotation is impossible are player projections.
Fury impact
Fury's hit and Rage talents changed together: Furious Precision provides off-hand hit chance, while Dual Wield Specialization no longer adds off-hand Rage or hit. Test the current tree rather than carrying an old Beta allocation forward. No final level-60 ranking is established.
Protection impact
Iron Will and Improved Bloodrage move to row 1, with other defensive talents moved earlier. These official changes widen early tree choices, but do not independently establish one best dungeon build.
Current Beta reports
Some testers find early rage too restrictive; others consider the change manageable or expect later talents to matter. These are conflicting play impressions rather than a verified class ranking.
What remains uncertain
Blizzard's supplement reports the changes in the new build. Independent measurements across talents, misses and abilities remain incomplete here, and no complete official mathematical formula or final specialization ranking is supplied. Earlier generation bugs must not be assumed universally resolved.
Separate outgoing and incoming Rage tests
The official design normalizes damage-dealt Rage with weapon speed and calculates damage-taken Rage before armor/absorbs. October 4 players still disagree about incoming Rage: one reports no gain against a low-level enemy while another discussion proposes conflicting explanations. Do not combine these into a universal formula or infer incoming behavior from the separate 100% extra crit-Rage statement. Record stance, talents, weapon speed, damage dealt/taken, absorbs and build for separate comparisons.
October 8: taking-damage Rage fixes
Blizzard corrects player-health versus expected-creature-health calculation, critical/crushing damage multipliers and absorption handling for Warrior/Druid incoming Rage. The armor-balancing assumption changes with level. These are incoming-damage fixes, not a new full outgoing-Rage formula or independent verification of every live hit.

If a character comparison also changes race, separate the Forever racial-change comparison guide from Rage generation. A critical-effect change is not proof of a new universal Rage formula.
