WoW Forever Racial Changes: October 15 Beta Update
Compare WoW Forever's October 15 racial changes, replaced weapon specializations and safe current-build checks without an invented best-race ranking.
Quick answer
Blizzard's October 15 Beta notes replace Human Sword, Orc Axe and Dwarf Mace specializations with broader bonuses and revise several other racials. These are Forever Beta changes, not Classic Era or Retail rules. Check the current tooltip and build before choosing a race; the announcement is not an independently measured best-race or PvP ranking.
OfficialView evidence
Human, Orc and Dwarf: weapon type is no longer the same decision
Human Ruthless replaces Sword Specialization with 2% critical strike chance. Orc Savage replaces Axe Specialization with 1% critical strike chance. Dwarf Earth Fury replaces Mace Specialization with 2% critical damage and healing. Critical chance and critical effect size are different quantities; do not add them together as a universal damage gain.
Tauren: check the movement condition, not an old stutter-step clip
Endurance changes to 2% critical damage/healing rather than 1% hit. Plainsrunning adds 3% mounted speed and requires a minimum movement distance to maintain its effect; Blizzard says stutter-stepping is insufficient. The revised War Stomp cooldown is 90 seconds and Cultivation is 15 minutes. These are named changes, not proof every movement interaction works identically.
Skyborne: haste and moving utility
Wind Blessed rises from 1% to 3% haste. Skysight and Read Leyline can be cast while moving; Read Leyline's minimum duration becomes 30 seconds. Walk on Air's cooldown is 90 seconds. A new tooltip or shorter cooldown is not evidence of a guaranteed combat outcome or an unpublished route.
Undead: distinguish proc behavior from spell-school scaling
The post describes more consistent Touch of the Grave behavior and separately names Touch of the Dead's class-dependent chances and internal cooldown. It also removes Shadow-increase scaling and low-rank penalties. Preserve the source's naming distinction rather than guessing these labels are identical abilities in every client; inspect the exact racial and combat-log entry before reporting a discrepancy.
Gnome, Night Elf and Troll: conditional utility still matters
Eureka becomes an eight-second buff without charges and benefits Power Word: Shield; the notes separately flag that it cannot correctly be used in stealth/invisibility. Night Elf Quickness stacks with other movement increases. Troll Regeneration's health-regeneration bonus becomes 20%. These effects answer different tasks and do not establish one strongest race.
How to compare your character safely
Read the actual racial in the updated Forever client, then choose one ordinary, repeatable situation. Keep class, gear and buffs unchanged; separate critical chance, critical damage, healing and movement rather than collapsing them into one score. Record the full build and tooltip if the result disagrees. This is an editorial comparison method, not a measured rotation or a recommendation to pay for an account service.
Version boundary and unresolved questions
Use the original October 15 notes, published October 16 UTC, rather than a Classic or Retail racial list. Future Beta tuning, class interactions and final launch values can change the decision. No controlled multi-race combat dataset was obtained here. Recheck the class guide for the ability you actually use and the update timeline before treating an old video or an isolated critical hit as a universal answer.
