Enshrouded Missing Character or Save After 1.0

Check local and Steam Cloud selection, old-save conversion and the unresolved corrupted-character migration case without deleting your save.

Quick answer

First check the separate local and Steam Cloud tabs in both character and world selection. In1.0.0.2, corrupted characters may deliberately be skipped during migration to prevent a crash; Keen says their repair and migration are still in progress. The hotfix does not guarantee restoration, and a missing world is not automatically that same character-specific issue.

Identify what is missing before changing files

Write down whether the missing entry is a character, a world or both, and which Steam account was used before the update. In each selection menu compare the local and Steam Cloud tabs introduced in 1.0. A character visible in one tab but not the other is a different case from a migration failure. Do not create a replacement over your only copy or assume that downloading more files will recover account-specific progress.

  1. Confirm the original account and current installed game version.
  2. Check both storage tabs for the character, then repeat for the world.
  3. Record which entries are present and preserve existing backups before making further changes.

Understand the outstanding corrupted-character case

The October 16 note distinguishes preventing the crash from fixing the character. When an affected corrupted character cannot be migrated,1.0.0.2 skips it. Keen is working on a solution that repairs and converts those characters together, without giving a completion date. If that fits your symptoms, keep the existing data and follow official patch/support updates rather than repeatedly trying destructive recovery steps. We cannot diagnose corruption from an empty list alone.

World migration and skill resets are separate questions

The 1.0 notes describe automatic backup and conversion for old saves. A player thread also reports one world failing to migrate while another world and a character remain available. That report supports investigating entries separately, not a universal world-repair tool. Likewise, reassigned skill points are an expected1.0 reset and do not alone show character deletion. Keep those distinctions in your support description so that a missing-world report is not mistaken for an ordinary respec.

Official status: Skill reset and conversion rules are official; the individual world failure is a player report

Escalate with evidence, not your login details

Use Keen's official support linked from the hotfix notes. Include the installed version, account platform, missing entry type, storage tab, last successful load and whether conversion crashed. Supply files only through the official support process when requested. Do not share passwords or tokens, turn off security software, use an unreviewed save editor or delete cloud data on the assumption that it will regenerate the lost progress. No confirmed restoration date is available in the reviewed sources.
