Enshrouded 1.0 Update: What Changed and What to Check
Review Enshrouded 1.0 regions, Sparkworks, save conversion, skill and control resets, and the limits of the October 16 hotfix.
Quick answer
The full release adds Cinder's Cradle, expands the explorable world and introduces Sparkworks building logic. For returning players, the practical priorities are save conversion, selecting the correct local/cloud tab, reassigning reset skill points and reviewing reset controls. Install the latest available platform build; Hotfix 1.0.0.2 is not a completed repair for corrupted characters.

Before you load an old character
Keen's 1.0 changelog says saves from version 0.8 or earlier are backed up and automatically converted when detected. Character and world selection now let you choose between local and Steam Cloud folders in separate tabs. Check the appropriate tab in both menus. Preserve any existing backup before investigating a failed conversion; a blank tab is not enough evidence to declare a save permanently gone.
- Confirm the account and installed version you actually use.
- Inspect the local and Steam Cloud tabs separately for characters and worlds.
- Preserve existing save copies; investigate a missing entry before overwriting anything.

Prepare your character, not just your download
The skill tree resets when an existing save is first used in 1.0. The notes also say custom key bindings were reset to accommodate new actions. Reassign your skill points and inspect the bindings before judging changed damage, movement or ability behavior as a bug. Keen expanded wand combat, aiming options and several skills, but these changes do not establish a universal best build or a guaranteed frame-rate gain.

New places and building systems
Cinder's Cradle opens the northern part of the completed map. New Hollow Halls are listed for Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin. Sparkworks connects an input, such as a lever or pressure plate, to an output such as a door or trap. This written overview is enough to understand its purpose, not a verified circuit recipe or a route to every new quest. Use in-game progression and current recipes rather than treating an old Early Access map as complete.
Separate release content from hotfix status
Hotfix 1.0.0.1 was followed by 1.0.0.2 on October 16. The latter fixes the world-settings regression and NVIDIA grey-fog fault and names specific crash scenarios. Corrupted-character migration is explicitly unfinished. Existing PC ownership carries over, while launch crossplay is explicitly unavailable. Match a platform-specific installed build to the release notes; the PC build number here is not a claim that every console received an identical binary at the same moment.
| Item | Current information |
|---|---|
| World Edit action | Named fix in 1.0.0.2; test the same action after updating. |
| Corrupted character absent | Still awaiting repair/migration; not restored merely by avoiding the crash. |
| PC ownership | Existing Early Access owners do not repurchase1.0. |
