Enshrouded 1.0 Guides: Saves, World Settings & Crashes
Find current Enshrouded 1.0 help for missing characters, world settings, hotfix scope and returning-player changes without risking your saves.
Quick answer
Enshrouded 1.0 is released. The October 16 Hotfix 1.0.0.2, build 1269579, fixes the world-settings menu and several specific crashes, but does not yet restore corrupted characters skipped during migration. First identify whether you have a missing save, a failed menu action or a crash; each needs a different next step.

Choose by the action that failed
A character absent from the selection screen is not the same failure as a world absent from its list. Both differ from an Edit button that does nothing. Use the save guide to check the new local/Steam Cloud tabs before assuming deletion; use the world-settings guide for the named menu regression. If the process closes, note whether it happens while migrating, loading, travelling or browsing shared adventures. Those details determine which patch entry is relevant.
Returning from Early Access
Existing PC owners do not need to buy the game again for 1.0. Keen says older saves can convert to the new format; starting over is a recommendation for experiencing the revised opening, not a required wipe. The release resets the skill tree and custom bindings, so reassign points and check controls before resuming a dangerous journey. None of those expected changes proves that your character or inventory has been lost.
Check multiplayer expectations before troubleshooting
The launch FAQ explicitly says cross-platform play is not available at launch and gives no delivery estimate. Friends on different platforms therefore should not treat a missing shared session as proof of a broken router or lost world. For a same-platform problem, record the host, installed version and whether the failure concerns discovery, joining or loading. We have no verified universal fix for every post-launch connection report.
Official status: Launch crossplay limitation confirmed; universal connection repair unverified

A fix list is not a recovery guarantee
Hotfix 1.0.0.2 stops a migration crash by not migrating certain corrupted characters; the developer says repair and migration are still being worked on. That is different from characters being restored. Keep existing save copies intact and use official support for a remaining failure. Do not replace your only copy with a downloaded save, upload it to an unreviewed repair service or assume another player's successful migration identifies your own cause.
