Enshrouded Crashes After 1.0: Hotfix and Symptom Checks
Separate Enshrouded migration, travel, water, Adventure Share and startup crashes from the fixed NVIDIA fog problem and unresolved audio behavior.
Quick answer
Install the latest available update, then match your crash to the 1.0.0.2 notes: save migration, crowded-world travel/gliding, Adventure Share, water simulation and several rarer cases have named fixes. Corrupted characters may still be skipped rather than recovered. NVIDIA dense grey fog is a separate fixed rendering defect, not proof of a crash or bad GPU.

Classify when the process fails
Record the exact point: startup, selecting an older character, loading a world, fast travel, glider landing, shared-adventure browsing/download or exiting. Note your platform, installed build, hardware and the visible error. The October 16 patch names these different contexts; it does not identify one common cause for every player. A single safe retest after updating is more useful than repeatedly changing drivers, save files and game settings at once.
| Item | Current information |
|---|---|
| Older-character migration | Crash prevention is not character restoration; preserve saves and check the missing-character guide. |
| Travel/landing in crowded worlds | Named1.0.0.2 fix; report continued reproduction with the location and world context. |
| Adventure Share/water/exit | Specific stability fixes are listed; other causes remain possible. |

Update without sacrificing the affected save
Complete the platform update and reopen the game. If the failure involved migration, retain the old save and existing backups before another test. Corrupted-character conversion remains unfinished even though one crash has been prevented. If an ordinary current save loads but one older entry does not, that distinction belongs in the report; it is not a reason to delete the failing entry or overwrite the only backup with a fresh world.
Do not confuse a graphics fault with a crash
Keen names a dense grey-fog rendering error affecting NVIDIA cards, particularly in Hollow Halls, as fixed in 1.0.0.2. If that was the symptom, first compare the same scene after the update rather than replacing hardware or disabling protection. Persistent low performance, a crash to desktop and the game's normal Shroud are different observations. No benchmark in these notes establishes a guaranteed FPS uplift on your device.

Separate remaining audio and peripheral reports
The 1.0.0.1 notice names peripheral-related crashes and separately describes an audio/reverb problem when in-game master volume is below 100%. Its temporary audio advice uses the Windows output volume instead; lower the actual output volume before raising the game's slider. The reviewed1.0.0.2 notes do not explicitly resolve that audio issue. Neither this advice nor a player's successful session is a universal crash fix. For persistent failures, use the official support channel with the exact build and repeatable sequence, not passwords or unreviewed repair tools.
Official status: Named patch scope confirmed; blanket crash/audio resolution unverified
