Deadlock Guides: Invites, Ranked & First Matches
Start Valve's early-development Deadlock with official access guidance, current ranked requirements and practical preparation for your first matches.
Quick answer
Valve describes Deadlock as a multiplayer game in early development, with access limited to friend invites from playtesters and no announced full-release date. Getting access, learning Standard matches and qualifying for Ranked are different tasks. Start with the matching guide rather than treating a Steam listing or player peak as open public release.

How to Get Deadlock Access & Accept an Invite
Understand Deadlock friend-invite access, Steam notifications, limited-account uncertainty and missing-invite checks without paying unofficial sellers.
Deadlock Ranked Requirements, Parties & Season Date
Check Deadlock Standard wins, hero eligibility, calibration, duo limits and the updated season end before diagnosing a blocked ranked queue.
Deadlock First Matches: A Practical Beginner Checklist
Prepare your first Deadlock matches with Standard mode, manageable hero practice, current controls and useful feedback instead of outdated ranked rules.
Violet is released; Nurse Harrow is still a dated plan
Valve's October 16 Paint the Town announcement says Violet is available in-game, with Living Ink, Flow State, Still Life and Abstract Landscape. The same notice schedules Nurse Harrow for October 20 at 14:00 PDT. Solomon remains an earlier release, not the newest hero. Start by reading the current ability descriptions and testing movement separately from damage; this introduction does not establish a best build, win rate or guaranteed synergy.

Current-build check: new heroes and the October 14/15 balance update
Deadman Danny is available in the October 13 official introduction. Valve's next minor patch is titled October 14 but was published October 15 UTC: Danny gains health and several ability improvements while Baba receives reductions. Do not treat a launch-day build video or a player's win-rate anecdote as a current universal ranking. In an early match, read the current ability descriptions and compare the actual patch before copying an older setup.
Access first; Ranked is not the starting requirement
An accepted playtest invitation and library access come before matchmaking eligibility. Existing playtesters can invite friends; no guaranteed delivery time is established by the Store. Use Standard to learn while building the separate official Ranked prerequisites.
If the game is not yet in your library, use the Deadlock invitation and account-access checks before treating the problem as a matchmaking failure.

An evolving build, not a frozen ruleset
September 29's City Never Sleeps update changed the map, HUD and accessibility options. October 6 postponed the first ranked-season end. Recheck developer notes and the current client's requirements before relying on old tutorials or a fixed hero ranking.

Solomon: identify the actual hero before copying a build
Valve's October 9 introduction confirms Solomon available, with Setup Bishop, Kingside Knight, Rook Battery and Develop Queen. Read those abilities in the current client rather than importing a different hero's setup. The later October 14 minor patch separately changes Baba and Deadman Danny; it is not a Solomon win-rate or best-item proof. Next scheduled hero voting is not proof another hero has already released.
