Galactic Racer on Steam Deck: EOS, Controls & Performance
Fix the known invisible Galactic Racer EOS overlay on Steam Deck, distinguish input and scaling issues, and check official performance claims.
Quick answer
If Steam Deck appears stuck on an invisible Epic Online Services overlay, the developer's workaround is to press B to cancel and return to the game. That is not a universal connection repair. The FAQ claims a consistent 30 FPS is achievable with optimal settings; this is a developer statement, not our benchmark or proof of Valve Verified status. Separate native Deck play from Remote Play and general Linux support.

Invisible EOS overlay: try the official B-button workaround
The launch list specifically acknowledges an overlay that can become invisible on Steam Deck. Press B once to cancel and return. If an actual multiplayer code remains, capture it and follow the error-code guide rather than repeatedly canceling or guessing account credentials are wrong.

Deck support is not a certification claim
The developer FAQ discusses Deck play and an achievable 30 FPS with optimal settings. It does not supply a tested settings preset here, and no current Valve Verified certification was independently established in this check. Check the current Steam compatibility label for your installation; do not equate Playable, Verified and general Linux support.

Scaling and controls are separate symptoms
Interface Scale reverting to 50% is listed for Deck. A controller diagram/glyph issue is separately scoped to Steam Machine. Neither statement proves all Deck buttons fail. First distinguish wrong labels, a reset scale, no input and a blocked overlay. Record the active controller layout before making one reversible change.

Performance comparison without invented FPS gains
Use the same race, resolution and session length for a settings comparison. Change one option, note readability and frame pacing, then keep or restore it. Do not copy desktop DLSS advice to unsupported hardware or treat October 8's PC-driver checks as a proven Deck-specific FPS patch.
- Confirm the game update has finished and note your SteamOS/game versions.
- Check whether the problem is overlay, graphics readability, stutter or input.
- Compare a normally available graphics option in the same scene, one at a time.
- Record results without promising a universal preset or measured gain.
Online authentication versus Remote Play
The FAQ requires an initial online authentication on PC; online racing and leaderboards also need a connection. Remote Play renders on a host PC and adds a streaming/input path, so its lag cannot be treated as native Deck performance. For unresolved issues, report which mode you used, the code or overlay behavior, versions and a short reproduction.
