Ocarina of Time Remake: Confirmed Changes

What Nintendo has confirmed for the 2026 Switch 2 Ocarina of Time remake, and which gameplay details still need release verification.

Last checked October 15, 2026

Quick answer

Nintendo confirms rebuilt visuals, voiced and expanded scenes, orchestral music, freer movement, a right-stick camera, Threads of Time and ZELDA NOTES support. This is a new Switch 2 remake, not the Nintendo 64 game or Ocarina of Time 3D. Nintendo's October overview also announces Hall of Fallen Heroes monster information and rematches; detailed unlock conditions and rewards are not yet established here.

Presentation and story

The official reveal describes remodeled locations, new detail, fully voiced cutscenes and expanded dialogue. The soundtrack uses symphonic orchestral music. Nintendo has not published a scene-by-scene list of dialogue changes.

Movement and camera

Nintendo names dedicated jump and run commands plus camera control with the Right Stick. Its product listing also describes faster-feeling action. Exact default button assignments are not specified in the reviewed announcement.

Guidance beyond the game screen

Threads of Time shows story progress and a next objective inside the game. ZELDA NOTES is a separate Nintendo Switch App service on compatible smart devices; neither should be confused with the 3DS touch inventory.

Still unconfirmed

Do not assume that every dungeon layout, collectible, boss strategy or 3DS-only feature carries over unchanged. Those details require the released Switch 2 version or a more specific Nintendo statement.

Newly described: Hall of Fallen Heroes

Nintendo's October 15 Australian overview describes a place containing statues of defeated monsters, where Link can learn about them or fight rematches. It does not publish an unlock route, complete roster or reward table. The game remains scheduled for November 5; this is an announced feature, not a launch-tested boss guide.
