over the hill Guides: Terrain, Co-op Loading & Pebbles
Find patch-aware over the hill help for invisible terrain, portal loading and missing Pebbles, with safe checks and clear platform limits.
Quick answer
Start with the October 16 update, 26.10.16_57fb763. It addresses invisible terrain on some older GPUs, repeat-objective Pebbles and a specific co-op portal-loading failure. Choose the symptom below rather than applying every launch workaround. The game is released on Steam; an unsupported Mac report is not the same environment as Windows or Steam Deck.

over the hill Invisible Terrain: GTX Fix & Current Checks
Check the October 16 invisible-terrain fix, distinguish the old Steam launch option from current advice, and report remaining GPU-specific failures.
over the hill Multiplayer Loading: Portal & Server Checks
Separate the fixed portal-after-camping hang from server-list discovery, first joins and remaining over the hill co-op loading reports.
over the hill Pebbles Missing: Repeat Rewards After the Patch
Check repeat trail and recovery rewards, wildlife counters and changed meteorite spawns without assuming every missing Pebble has one cause.
Choose the failed action
If the ground is absent but the vehicle and scenery appear, use the terrain guide. If a guest cannot finish loading after travel, use multiplayer loading. If an objective completes but the balance is wrong, use the reward guide. Note the installed build before changing anything: a fix can address a named defect without explaining every visually similar symptom. These pages distinguish the official correction from practical evidence-gathering advice.

Play together without confusing individual progress
The developer FAQ describes up to four online players and individually tracked objectives: helping a friend is not the same as reaching your own checkpoint. Its older future-facing wording should not be used to promise every planned platform feature at launch. Before comparing progress, agree on which player, checkpoint and session you mean. A mismatch in one objective does not justify replacing a save or buying another copy.
Match advice to your input and platform
The FAQ prioritizes gamepad and keyboard; launch steering-wheel support is not promised. A Steam controller badge does not establish force feedback for a wheel. Its Steam Deck commitment uses Proton, not a native Linux release, and Mac support was not planned for the initial release. Keep unsupported compatibility-layer reports labeled as reports. Do not install random DLLs or disable protection to imitate another player's configuration.

A useful report beats another blind reinstall
Keep one clear reproduction: what you attempted, what happened instead, the build, platform and whether you hosted or joined. For a visual fault add the GPU; for a reward fault add the objective and balance; for travel add the last successful area transition. These are diagnostic suggestions, not developer-certified repairs. Use the official community support destination when the named fix does not resolve the same action.
