The global FAQ says the two clients share servers/content. A Steam player does not need a separate PURPLE link simply to play; linking is relevant when using the same character through both clients. Confirm the intended account before linking, and distinguish platform sign-in from game access eligibility.

Do not repeatedly unlink/relink to try to cure a download error. Existing official account-linking guidance warns that an existing connection can change. No universal new linking repair is established by October 7's map/chat patch. Preserve the account/client/error details and use NC support rather than creating multiple accounts or sharing credentials.
