Ace Combat 8 HOTAS and Flight-Stick Support
Check Ace Combat 8 HOTAS configuration limits, differences from AC7 and HORI's scoped left-yaw firmware fix without downloading unverified input profiles.
Quick answer
Bandai acknowledges that some configuration options available for certain sticks in AC7 are absent in AC8 and is reviewing improvements; no release date is promised. Separately, HORI released V1.60 firmware on October 7 for its AC8 PS5/PS4/Windows stick's continuous left-yaw issue in PC FLIGHT mode. That scoped fix does not make every HOTAS fully supported.
What current support does—and does not—confirm
The Flight Stick Support Update acknowledges device-specific missing configuration options. It does not publish a universal compatibility matrix, confirm every DirectInput device or guarantee sensitivity/binding parity with AC7. Detecting a controller is not the same as having all axes and buttons independently configurable.

HORI left yaw: an official, device-specific firmware fix
For the named AC8 Flight Stick for PS5, PS4 and Windows PC only, HORI says V1.60 addresses yaw remaining left in PC FLIGHT/DirectInput mode. Follow the manufacturer's update instructions: its Control Center workflow requires PS5 mode while connected for the update. This update procedure is not the normal gameplay-mode recommendation for every device.

Use available official controls before remapping
Identify the exact product, platform selector, firmware and game version. Follow that manufacturer's mode instructions and inspect the bindings actually exposed in your current game. Test pitch, roll, yaw and throttle individually, then a few buttons. We do not invent a menu or publish a profile for options the game does not expose.
- Connect the intended controller before starting and confirm the correct device mode.
- Record the native behavior before adding any remapping layer.
- Test one axis or button at a time in a safe single-player situation.
- If Steam Input is already enabled, record that fact when reporting the behavior; avoid stacking multiple tools.
AC7 files and community remapping attempts
Steam players describe trying AC7 input files and finding missing bindings or files disappearing on launch. Those are community observations, not endorsed fixes. Virtual-device tools can introduce duplicated axes, driver dependencies or conflicts. No unverified configuration download, executable or AC7-file transplant is recommended here.

What remains unknown and how to report it
The game team is exploring improvements closer to AC7, but supported-device expansion and patch timing remain unannounced in the reviewed update. Send model, firmware, platform mode, axes/buttons affected and any existing remapper to Bandai or the manufacturer. Distinguish a stuck axis from a crash or online error.
